I’ve lived in the same suburb for over 10 years. Last week I tried a restaurant for the first time. The experience was, from start to finish, terrific.
The staff were friendly and attentive.
The food was delivered promptly. It was delicious.
There was no bill shock either. Perfect.
I left annoyed. Annoyed at myself. I’ve walked past that restaurant hundreds of times. Much like everyone else I’m always in search of the new kid on the block. The buzziest restaurant. The trend setter. In doing so, I’ve undervalued what’s likely the most important test of success, longevity.
Sometimes old is the new black. Change your focus.
Take your time. I’ll see you at the bar.
